How to store Ozempic and Mounjaro pens

Updated · 2 min read

This page gives general facts from the medicine label. It is not medical advice. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about your treatment.

Before first use, all four pens go in the fridge. After that, the rules are different for each pen. This page shows the rules from each label.

Rules for all pens

  • Keep new pens in the fridge, at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
  • Do not freeze a pen. Do not use a pen that was frozen.
  • Keep pens away from heat and light. Keep them in the original box.

Out of the fridge

Room temperature limits on the label

Mounjaro or Zepbound KwikPenUnopened: 30 days at room temperature, up to 30°C (86°F)

Mounjaro and Zepbound KwikPen after first use

The label says: keep an opened KwikPen in its box, in the fridge or at room temperature up to 30°C (86°F). Throw it away at the first of these limits: 30 days in total at room temperature, 30 days after first use, or 4 weekly doses. Do this even if there is medicine left in it.

More from the Ozempic label

  • Do not keep the pen next to the cooling part of the fridge.
  • Keep the pen cap on when you do not use the pen.
  • Take off the needle after each shot. Store the pen without a needle.

Write down the date

Some limits count from the first use. Others count the total days out of the fridge. Write down the date of first use and each time the pen is out of the fridge. Your pharmacist can tell you what to do if a pen got too hot or froze.
